Construction and Trades Management Requirements

Applicants enrolling on or after July 1, 2026 for start dates after September 1st, 2026 must demonstrate current employment of at least six months in the trades or construction industry, or possess a minimum of six months related work experience. This enhancement is intended to ensure students enter the program with relevant industry exposure, practical skills, and a stronger understanding of career opportunities within the construction and trades management field.

Applicants wishing to enroll into the Construction and Trades Management program who have graduated from a Miller-Motte College Chattanooga or branch campus applicable non-degree trades program must meet the general admissions requirements.

Applicants who are not graduates of a Miller-Motte College Chattanooga or branch campus trades program must meet the General Admissions Requirements and, must meet the requirements below:

  • Provide documentation of successful completion of a diploma/certificate non-degree program with completion of at least 50 quarter credit hours,
  • or equivalent from a construction skilled trades program such as HVAC, Electrical, Welding and Plumbing etc. from an institution accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the US Department of Education.

Certification requirements for taking and passing certification examinations are not controlled by Miller-Motte College but by outside agencies and are subject to change by the agencies without notice to Miller-Motte College. Therefore, Miller-Motte College cannot guarantee that graduates will be eligible to take certification examinations, regardless of their eligibility status upon enrollment.

Accreditation, Licensure, & Approval

Miller-Motte College located in Chattanooga, Tennessee and Miller-Motte College branch campuses have been approved by the State of Tennessee to participate in the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA). NC-SARA is a voluntary, regional approach to state oversight of post-secondary distance education.
